Details
Volvariella volvacea is a true tropical mushroom extensively cultivated throughout Southeast Asia. It is a saprophytic species that naturally grows on rice straw and other agricultural residues, and cannot grow on wood-based substrates.
Unlike many cultivated mushrooms, Paddy Straw Mushroom requires high temperatures throughout both incubation and fruiting. Exposure to low temperatures can significantly reduce growth and yield. It needs light during the fruiting stage.
