Can I reuse spent mushroom substrate?

Yes. Spent substrate rarely fruits a strong second crop, but it composts well, feeds garden beds, and can go into worm bins. Some growers get a light second flush of oysters from spent blocks kept humid. It should not be reused as a fresh sterile substrate, because it is already colonised and full of competing organisms.
