What is Masters Mix and what is it used for?

Masters Mix is a popular fruiting substrate of hardwood sawdust and soy hull, usually in equal parts by weight, hydrated to about 60% moisture. It suits wood-loving gourmet species such as lion's mane, oyster, and shiitake, and gives strong yields. Because it is nutritious it must be pressure sterilised, not just pasteurised, or it contaminates easily.
