How do I grow shiitake mushrooms?

Shiitake grows on supplemented hardwood sawdust blocks and takes patience. After the block colonises it needs to brown and firm up over several weeks before fruiting. Trigger fruiting with a cold water soak or a temperature drop, then fruit at about 10 to 18°C with fresh air. Shiitake rewards a longer colonisation with better flushes.
