What conditions do mushrooms need to fruit?
Once a substrate is fully colonised, four conditions trigger fruiting: a drop toward the species' fruiting temperature, high humidity around 85 to 95%, fresh air to clear the carbon dioxide the mycelium gives off, and some light so pins form and orient. Indoors, a humid tent or chamber with a few daily air exchanges and indirect light covers all four. Each species has its own ideal range.
