Is contaminated mushroom substrate dangerous to handle?

Treat heavily moulded material with care. Some contaminant moulds release spores that can irritate the lungs or trigger allergies, so do not open or shake a badly contaminated container indoors. Seal it in a bag, remove it outdoors, wear a mask if you are sensitive, and wash your hands and surfaces afterwards. Healthy mushroom mycelium itself is not a hazard.
