Liquid culture or grain spawn: which should I use?

They do different jobs, so most growers use both. Liquid culture is cheap to multiply and easy to store, and it is what you inject into grain. Grain spawn is the colonised grain you then mix into bulk substrate. If you are choosing a starting point, liquid culture is the more flexible first purchase, and colonised grain spawn is the faster shortcut to fruiting.
